Burlington Arcade Launches Christmas Grotto with Exciting Activities

Burlington Arcade, an iconic shopping destination in London’s West End, is taking its appeal to the next level by launching its very first Christmas Grotto. The Grotto, set to debut on December 1st, is expected to attract a wide range of visitors, both shoppers and tourists alike, during the festive season. This move comes as retailers increasingly adopt strategies aimed at enticing customers away from online shopping and towards the joys of physical retail during the Christmas period.

Designed by talented florist Jane Wadham and artist Aga Skiba, the Christmas Grotto at Burlington Arcade promises an array of exciting activities for visitors to enjoy throughout December. From wreath workshops and live classical music performances to a display of festive table landscaping and a mouthwatering Christmas feast, there will be something for everyone. Additionally, workshops by Biscuiteers and a special charity children’s book reading by Geri Halliwell Horner, who has successfully transitioned from pop star to author, will also be featured.

Skiba’s masterful hand-painted façade of the Grotto showcases installations that draw inspiration from the beauty of nature, cherished childhood memories, and unforgettable travel experiences. To further enhance the festive ambiance, the entire length of the arcade will be adorned with fresh pine trees, wreaths, and twinkling lights.

Visitors to the Grotto workshops will have the opportunity to savor the Justerini & Brooks 250th Anniversary Cuvée Champagne free of charge. Notably, Justerini & Brooks, known as Britain’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant, will be opening its first-ever retail space within Burlington Arcade in January 2024.

Aside from the Grotto, other luxury brands featured in Burlington Arcade will also be hosting exclusive experiences during this period. With its recent transformation into a premier fashion destination, the arcade is home to renowned brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Strathberry, Baudoin & Lange, and Roja Parfums. The latest addition to its offerings is the Anya Hindmarch boutique.

By introducing the Christmas Grotto, Burlington Arcade adds to the festive atmosphere of London and provides visitors with a truly unique and enchanting experience. Combining traditional holiday elements with engaging activities, the Grotto aims to reignite the joy of in-person shopping during the Christmas season.
