Burberry’s Partnership with Royal College of Art

The Burberry Foundation has recently announced its exciting partnership with the renowned Royal College of Art in London. This collaboration aims to delve into the realm of future textiles and explore how sustainable production methods can be integrated into the luxury brand.

In order to kickstart this five-year long research plan, Burberry has invested a whopping €3.41 million. By joining forces with the Royal College of Art, students and researchers will have the opportunity to utilize their skills and expertise to develop innovative textiles for the luxury fashion label.

This isn’t the first time Burberry has collaborated with the Royal College of Art. The brand has been providing scholarships to students since 2011, amounting to an impressive total of £750,000. This latest project has been enthusiastically embraced by Christopher Bailey, the artistic director of Burberry, who himself is a graduate of this prestigious London institution.

The research on sustainable textiles will take place in a state-of-the-art building which is set to be established at the Royal College of Art in 2020. By harnessing the talents of students and researchers, this partnership aims to push the boundaries of manufacturing techniques and come up with innovative materials that can revolutionize the luxury fashion industry.

This collaboration is of immense strategic importance to Burberry. It aims to capitalize on the growing concern among Millennials – the new generation of consumers – about the production methods of luxury brands. Through its investment in research on future textiles and commitment to sustainable practices, Burberry hopes to align itself with the values and aspirations of its target audience.

Overall, this partnership between Burberry and the Royal College of Art holds immense potential to create a positive impact in the fashion industry. By exploring and adopting sustainable production methods, the luxury brand aims to remain relevant and appeal to its increasingly conscious consumers.
