Burberry Ventures into Gaming with Exclusive Designs for Honor of Kings

Burberry is making strides in the technology and gaming sectors, further solidifying its position as an innovative luxury fashion brand. Following the recent announcement of its virtual digital store in Japan, Burberry is now venturing into the gaming world with a collaboration focused on China. The brand has unveiled exclusive designs for the popular mobile game Honor of Kings, becoming the first luxury label to co-create with the game.

The collaboration with Honor of Kings is an extension of Burberry’s partnership with Tencent, showcasing the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries in terms of innovation and creativity. Honor of Kings, developed by TiMi Studios and published by Tencent Games, revolves around the theme of the ‘Spirit of Nature’. This theme aligns perfectly with Burberry’s exploration of the relationship between humans and nature. Within the game, the character Yao embodies the spirit of nature, able to transform into a deer, representing the connection between humans and the natural world. This resonates with Burberry’s animal kingdom house code.

Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Riccardo Tisci, personally designed two skins for Yao in the game. These skins will be available for purchase to all Honor of Kings players in mainland China, becoming a permanent addition to their collections. Tisci drew inspiration from Burberry’s iconic hallmarks, such as the signature check, trench coat, and Thomas Burberry Monogram, to create the exclusive skins. The Spirit of Nature skin embraces these classic Burberry symbols, reimagining them in a modern and dynamic way that captures Yao’s adventurous character. The design of the Spirit of Nature deer also reflects Tisci’s fascination with duality and the creative possibilities that arise from different perspectives. Additionally, another skin called Spirit of the Forest and Ocean Legend was created based on a runway look from Burberry’s SS21 collection. This skin incorporates a statement royal blue collarless trench coat and a crystal-embroidered vest, incorporating mythical marine references from the collection.

Burberry’s collaboration with Tencent in the realm of luxury gaming displays the brand’s dedication to innovation and its ability to merge fashion and technology seamlessly. By teaming up with popular games like Honor of Kings, Burberry extends its reach to a wider audience and creates new opportunities for consumer engagement. This partnership exemplifies the brand’s commitment to exploring unconventional platforms to showcase its designs and provide unique experiences for its customers. With each technological advancement, Burberry establishes itself as a leader in the luxury fashion industry.
