Burberry Unveils New Creative Expression under Daniel Lee

Burberry, the esteemed luxury fashion brand, is set to unveil its first creative expression under the leadership of new creative director, Daniel Lee, during London Fashion Week. This highly anticipated moment has the industry brimming with excitement and anticipation.

While the fashion world eagerly awaits the grand reveal, Burberry has offered a sneak peek of what is to come through a captivating campaign. The campaign includes a collection of stunning images and a film, brought to life by the talented photographer Tyrone Lebon and complemented by an engaging score composed by musician John Glacier.

One of the standout features of this campaign is the diverse cast of individuals featured in both the film and the photos. Notable figures such as musician Lennon Gallagher, footballer Raheem Sterling, actors Jun Ji-hyun and Vanessa Redgrave, models Liberty Ross, and musicians Shygirl and Skepta, all contribute to the campaign’s unique appeal. This carefully selected cast aligns with Burberry’s intention of celebrating its British heritage while embracing a multicultural and multi-ethnic perspective, making it appealing to a wide range of individuals.

The choice of locations for the shoot also holds significance in emphasizing the brand’s British roots. Iconic landmarks such as Trafalgar Square and Albert Bridge serve as distinctive backdrops, further solidifying Burberry’s connection to its British heritage.

Notably, Burberry has unveiled a new version of its logo for this campaign. Described as “archive inspired,” this logo prominently features in the visuals of the campaign. The logo pays homage to the original Equestrian Knight Design, which was chosen through a public competition over a century ago. Additionally, the logo incorporates the Latin word ‘Prorsum’, meaning ‘forwards’, symbolizing a progressive and forward-thinking approach.

It is worth mentioning that under previous creative director Riccardo Tisci, the TB monogram had taken center stage in Burberry’s logo products. Therefore, the decision to highlight the word ‘Prorsum’ raises curiosity about the potential significance behind this choice. In the past, under Christopher Bailey’s tenure, Burberry used ‘Prorsum’ to denote its highest-end collection. However, it remains to be seen if Burberry will revive this label or if it holds a different meaning for the brand under Daniel Lee’s leadership.

As fashion enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the Burberry show at London Fashion Week, the brand’s campaign offers a tantalizing glimpse into what can be expected.
