Burberry Supports Global Battle Against Coronavirus

Luxury fashion brand Burberry has made a commitment to help the global battle against the coronavirus pandemic. The company has pledged support to a British scientific research program in addition to providing aid to organizations assisting with food distribution.

Following the lead of Bulgari, which is funding the development of a cutting-edge 3D microscope in Italy, Burberry has established a fund to support research in creating a vaccine for Covid-19. Clinical trials are set to commence at the esteemed University of Oxford in the near future.

Professor Gavin Screaton, Head of the Department of Medical Sciences at Oxford, is optimistic about the impact of such donations, stating that they provide valuable support and contribute to the agility of finding solutions.

Burberry’s commitment to aid extends beyond medical research. The company has also pledged support to food organizations, such as FareShare and The Felix Project, ensuring that food aid continues to reach those in need during the confinement period.

Joining other luxury brands including Chanel, LVMH, Kering, and Prada, Burberry is mobilizing its resources to provide over 100,000 protective masks to British health services. The brand’s Castleford workshop in Yorkshire, famous for producing iconic Burberry trench coats, is currently manufacturing additional masks and gowns for patients. These prototypes are awaiting official approval.

Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti emphasizes the importance of unity in these challenging times. He highlights the pride the company feels in supporting healthcare professionals, vaccine development teams, and those involved in providing crucial food assistance. Gobbetti acknowledges the significant disruption caused by Covid-19 but expresses hope that the collective efforts will save lives and overcome the crisis.
