Burberry Partners with Smart Works for International Women’s Day

For this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, Burberry collaborated once again with UK charity Smart Works to uplift and empower women looking to re-enter the workforce. The luxury fashion house welcomed seven women to their London flagship showroom for a special dressing session, where they received individual styling sessions from Burberry’s private clients team. These women were also gifted with a workwear wardrobe to boost their confidence for upcoming job interviews.

Photographer Esther Theaker beautifully documented the transformation of these women, showcasing the impactful partnership between Burberry and Smart Works. Since 2013, Burberry has been supporting Smart Works by donating products to help unemployed women regain their footing in the job market.

Smart Works caters to a diverse group of women, with a focus on empowering those from ethnic minorities and single mothers. The charity equips women with the necessary tools and self-assurance to succeed in the workplace. Judy Collinson, Burberry’s Chief Merchandising Officer, highlighted the brand’s enthusiasm for the collaboration and its positive influence on women’s lives.

In addition to supporting women and giving back to the community, Burberry has also found a sustainable solution for surplus stock through its partnership with Smart Works. This move comes in light of previous controversies surrounding the disposal of unsold goods. By repurposing surplus stock to empower women, Burberry is not only making a social impact but also creating meaningful change within the fashion industry.

The recent appointment of the Duchess of Sussex as Smart Works’ royal patron further underscores the dedication of both Burberry and Smart Works to helping women succeed in their careers. This partnership exemplifies the transformative power of fashion in making a difference and changing lives for the better.
