Burberry Foundation Arts Initiative for Teenagers in Yorkshire

The Burberry Foundation has launched a groundbreaking initiative aimed at inspiring teenagers through arts and culture. Building on their history of supporting the arts, Burberry is now working with prestigious organizations like The Hepworth Wakefield, Northern Ballet, Leeds Playhouse, and Leeds Young Film to bring arts education into schools in Yorkshire.

Over the course of four years, this program will reach up to 4,000 young people aged 11 to 14, with researchers from King’s College London evaluating the impact of the initiative. The focus is on how exposure to cultural and creative education can empower teenagers to overcome obstacles, expand their perspectives, and pursue their dreams.

While this initiative serves a larger purpose beyond marketing, it allows Burberry to engage with youth in a meaningful way, nurturing their creativity and providing inspiration. By investing in the next generation, Burberry aims to create a positive impact on their lives and communities.

The participating schools, situated in urban Leeds and its surrounding areas, represent a diverse range of challenges and cultural contexts. From schools with multilingual student bodies to those in post-industrial communities, the program seeks to highlight the benefits of creative education in various settings.

Each of the partner organizations will assign an Artist in Residence to collaborate with the schools, offering students hands-on exposure to different art forms. Together with teachers and students, these artists will create events that involve the wider community. By the end of the program, all eight schools will have engaged with all four organizations, enriching young lives through the transformative power of arts and culture.

This innovative initiative by the Burberry Foundation demonstrates a commitment to fostering creativity and empowerment among teenagers, paving the way for a brighter future through the arts.
