Burberry Appoints Giorgio Belloli and Delphine Sonder to New Leadership Roles

Burberry, the prestigious luxury brand, has made important additions to its leadership team by appointing Giorgio Belloli and Delphine Sonder to new roles within the company. Belloli will take on the position of chief digital, customer and innovation officer, while Sonder will become the chief merchandising officer. These appointments are effective immediately.

Belloli’s responsibilities will involve overseeing global e-commerce, digital product, and analytics teams, as well as leading a newly-formed innovation function. Sonder, on the other hand, will be in charge of merchandising and global planning for ready-to-wear and accessories, as well as developing product strategy. Both Belloli and Sonder will report directly to Burberry’s CEO, Jonathan Akeroyd, and will join the executive committee. They will be based at Burberry’s headquarters in London.

Giorgio Belloli brings with him an impressive nine-year tenure at Farfetch, where he held the position of chief commercial and sustainability officer. Prior to that, he held senior roles at renowned luxury brands such as Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, and Prada. Delphine Sonder joins Burberry after spending nearly five years at Saint Laurent as the general merchandising director. She also brings experience from senior roles at Louis Vuitton and Chloe.

Jonathan Akeroyd expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming Belloli and Sonder to the team, stating that their appointments reinforce the company’s ambitions for the future and strengthen the alignment between the commercial offering and the new creative vision. With these strategic appointments and recent developments, Burberry is making significant moves to enhance its leadership team and solidify its position as a leading luxury brand. The brand’s focus is on combining innovation, creative vision, and commercial success to establish itself as the modern British luxury brand of choice.
