Burberry Announces Philanthropic Partnership with Save the Children

Burberry has recently announced a philanthropic partnership with global charity Save the Children, unveiling their initiative ‘Life Chances’. This program is specifically designed to support young individuals who have been affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. By offering educational and career opportunities, enhancing social and emotional well-being, and empowering them to make a positive impact on their communities, the Burberry Foundation aims to assist young Ukrainian refugees through this collaboration.

Initially launched in Poland, the ‘Life Chances’ program will run until June 2025. It will primarily focus on supporting Ukrainian refugees aged between 14 and 18. In an effort to promote overall social well-being and cohesion, the program will also be extended to young people in Poland, with its services fully available from November onwards.

The introduction of this program highlights the significance of education and social activities in creating an environment where young individuals can find purpose, identity, and a sense of belonging, especially during moments of crisis and displacement. Unfortunately, despite Poland hosting a significant population of Ukrainian refugees, only 44% of Ukrainian children were enrolled in local schools by the end of the 2022/2023 academic year. The growing number of young people in need and the increasing demand for education have placed a strain on educational institutions within the country.

To ensure that young individuals have access to information, culture, and technology, all activities within the ‘Life Chances’ program will be conducted through libraries and other community spaces across Poland. This approach will also provide them with a safe environment to meet others and develop their own potential.

Nicole Lovett, the Programme Director at Burberry, expressed her pride in partnering with Save the Children for this program. She highlighted the vital role that Save the Children plays in creating safe and healthy environments for young individuals worldwide. Furthermore, she emphasized that the Burberry Foundation is committed to helping thousands of young people impacted by the crisis in Ukraine, facilitating their recovery, growth, and the creation of opportunities for a brighter future.

Through their collaboration, Burberry and Save the Children aspire to make a sustainable impact on the lives of young Ukrainian refugees and support their journey towards a promising future. By providing education, career prospects, and a sense of empowerment, the ‘Life Chances’ program endeavors to create long-term transformative change for these young individuals and empower them to become catalysts of positive change within their communities.
