Brown Thomas and Arnotts Leading the Way in Safe Shopping Experience

Brown Thomas and Arnotts, the renowned Irish department stores owned by Selfridges Group, are leading the way in creating a new shopping experience in the aftermath of the lockdown. In response to the ongoing global health crisis, these luxury retailers are implementing groundbreaking measures to ensure the safety and protection of both their customers and staff.

Aligned with the phased reopening of the Irish economy, Brown Thomas and Arnotts are gearing up to welcome back shoppers from June 29. However, with the reopening comes a new way of shopping at these iconic stores. To control the flow of customers and uphold social distancing regulations, shoppers will have the option to schedule their shopping appointments in advance through a dedicated app. Additionally, walk-ins will be permitted, with a queuing system in place to manage crowd control.

Operating at a reduced capacity, both Arnotts and Brown Thomas will uphold a maximum limit of customers inside their stores, with Arnotts capping at 1,100 customers at a time and Brown Thomas in Dublin accommodating up to 450 customers. This capacity will be monitored through electronic counters that provide real-time updates on the number of customers in-store, promoting transparency and safety.

Furthermore, strict measures will be put in place to regulate access to fitting rooms, with garments undergoing thorough sanitization and quarantine after handling to minimize the risk of Covid-19 transmission. Makeup testers will be removed from counters, although customers can enjoy virtual try-on experiences using digital screens for a touch-free shopping experience.

These forward-thinking initiatives have already been proven successful in other Selfridges Group-owned stores such as Holt Renfrew in Canada and De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands. It will be interesting to observe how Selfridges in the UK adapts its reopening strategy in the future.

As we transition into a new era of shopping, Brown Thomas and Arnotts are setting the standard for safety and innovation in retail. Their proactive approach to addressing health concerns while maintaining a luxurious shopping environment is commendable. Customers can now shop with peace of mind, knowing that their well-being is prioritized by these esteemed department stores.
