British Fashion Council Unveils Institute of Positive Fashion Forum

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled the schedule for its highly anticipated second annual Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF) Forum. The event is set to take place on June 30th at 180 Studios, located at 180 The Strand in London. Coinciding with London Climate Action Week 2022, the forum aims to accelerate the development of a circular fashion ecosystem through the promotion of innovation and best practices.

The BFC recognizes the urgent need to address climate-related challenges within the fashion industry, and aims to bring together key stakeholders for meaningful discussions and collaborations. The IPF Forum is designed to be an inspiring and action-oriented event that encourages the sharing of knowledge among global experts. Through a series of visionary keynotes, a closed-door roundtable, and ‘hack’ sessions, the forum aims to drive positive change in the industry by focusing on circularity and achieving net-zero emissions.

The lineup of keynote speakers at the forum is nothing short of impressive. Industry leaders such as Simon Platts from ASOS, Sinead Conway from Burberry, Juliet Russell from Stella McCartney, Robert Triefus from Gucci, and sustainability consultant Rachel Arthur will share their expertise on various topics. These include exploring the concept of Doughnut Economics in relation to the future of fashion, envisioning sustainability futures, promoting diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry, driving industry transformation through innovation, Gucci’s new era of luxury, and shifting from eco-fatigue to hope.

In addition to the thought-provoking keynotes, the IPF Forum will also feature ‘hack’ sessions that dive deep into specific areas of focus. These sessions aim to address issues such as tackling fashion returns, understanding the role of sustainable communications in fashion’s climate action, empowering citizens to extend the lifespan of their garments, developing solutions for next-generation circular design and product development, and unlocking financial flows and investment to scale up sustainable practices.

The IPF Forum serves as a crucial platform for the industry to come together and collaborate on driving positive change. With the urgent need for sustainability in the fashion industry, this event aims to pave the way for a more circular and environmentally conscious future. By addressing key issues and sharing innovative solutions, the BFC and its partners hope to accelerate progress towards a more sustainable fashion ecosystem.
