British Fashion Council Launches Impactful Projects

The British Fashion Council (BFC) continues to make waves in the fashion industry with the launch of two impactful projects that not only promote safety and sustainability but also support charitable causes. The first project, the Great British Designer Face Coverings: Reusable, for People and Planet campaign, is a collaboration between BFC and Bags of Ethics to create designer face masks designed by six renowned British labels. These masks not only aim to keep consumers safe during the coronavirus pandemic but also raise funds for charity, including NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, the BFC Foundation Fashion Fund, and Wings of Hope Children’s Charity.

Moreover, the face masks are manufactured in sustainable and reusable options without the use of single-use plastic, contributing to the reduction of plastic pollution. Available for purchase at various retailers, these masks provide a stylish and eco-friendly solution for individuals looking to protect themselves and the environment.

In addition to the face mask campaign, the BFC has introduced the Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF) website in honor of World Ocean Day. The IPF aims to support the fashion industry in implementing sustainable and people-led best practices through global collaboration and local action. By providing resources, information, and campaigns, the IPF seeks to guide businesses towards more resilient, circular, equal, and fair practices.

The BFC has also formed a strategic partnership with Parley for the Oceans to further drive positive change within the fashion industry. With Cyrill Gutsch and Caroline Rush joining each other’s advisory boards, the collaboration includes projects for students, education, mentoring, and campaigns to raise awareness for ocean conservation and phase out single-use plastics. Together, they are committed to making a lasting impact on the fashion industry and promoting sustainability at every level.
