The Joe Casely-Hayford Scholarship is specifically designed to provide financial support to a student from a black or mixed heritage background who is pursuing or has been offered a place in a Master’s program at a BFC Colleges Council member university. The selection process for this scholarship involved carefully evaluating applications based on both talent and financial need. A panel consisting of a member of the Casely-Hayford family and key industry representatives thoroughly reviewed the shortlisted applications to ensure that the scholarship is awarded to a deserving candidate who will make a meaningful impact in the fashion industry.

Joe Casely-Hayford was widely recognized for his unwavering support of young talent, and this scholarship serves as a tribute to his immense influence and the impact of black British culture on the wider British creative landscape. Caroline Rush, the Chief Executive of the BFC, expressed her excitement and extended her congratulations to Taya Francis for being the first recipient of this prestigious scholarship. She emphasized the importance of nurturing fashion talent from all backgrounds and paid homage to the genius of Joe Casely-Hayford.
