Brands Taking a Stand: Supporting the Fight Against Racial Injustice

As protests in the United States in response to racial injustice continue to gain momentum, it is not just individuals who are speaking out. Brands, both big and small, are also joining the conversation and taking action. From fashion labels to beauty companies, many are using their platforms to show support and make a difference.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is a prime example of this. In a show of solidarity with the protestors, the CFDA has been amplifying messages of empathy from various designers and brands, such as Tory Burch, Pyer Moss, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang. Additionally, the CFDA has compiled a list of educational resources and grassroots organizations that people can donate to in order to actively support the fight against racial injustice.

Ganni, a fashion brand based in Copenhagen, recently announced a generous donation of $100,000 towards organizations like Black Lives Matter, the NAACP, and the ACLU. Similarly, Biossance, a beauty brand, has pledged $100,000 to support groups such as the ACLU, the Minnesota Freedom Fund, and Black Lives Matter.

Other notable brands making substantial contributions include E.l.f. Cosmetics, which donated $25,000 to Color of Change, and Glossier, a popular beauty brand that pledged an impressive $1 million towards organizations combatting racial injustice. Half of this donation will go towards supporting groups like Black Lives Matter and the NAACP, while the other half will be used to provide grants for black-owned beauty businesses.

Companies like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Lululemon, H&M, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and Devacurl are also stepping up to support the cause. These brands are not only making financial contributions but are also committing to long-term initiatives aimed at empowering black-owned businesses and artists within their industries.

Through these actions, brands are making it clear that they stand in solidarity with the Black community and are actively working to combat systemic racism. By using their platforms and resources, companies are not only showing support but are also making tangible contributions to the ongoing fight for equality and justice.
