Bottega Veneta Promotes Top Executives to Strengthen Presence in Asia-Pacific Region

Bottega Veneta, the luxury brand owned by the Kering group, is making significant changes within its marketing department and the Asia-Pacific region. The company recently announced three promotions within its top management, which will go into effect on July 1. One of the key promotions is Dario Gargiulo, who currently holds the position of chief marketing & digital business officer. Gargiulo has been appointed as the new managing director for Greater China, taking over from Mauro Malta, who has been in the role since 2018.

The Greater China region includes mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Bottega Veneta has stated that Gargiulo’s main objective in his new position will be to enhance the brand’s image and improve customer experience in the region. The company recognizes Gargiulo’s extensive marketing expertise and deep understanding of the brand, which will be crucial in achieving these goals. Gargiulo has been working in the luxury and multinational consumer goods industry for 20 years. He started his career at Missoni and later joined Heineken, where he held various marketing positions in Italy, the Netherlands, and Brazil for 12 years. In 2015, he joined Diesel as the marketing director and in 2018, he became the chief marketing & digital business officer at Bottega Veneta, paving the way for his current promotion.

Another promotion within Bottega Veneta’s management team is Samuel Diep, who joined the company in 2020 as the head of merchandising. Diep previously made significant contributions at Loewe and Saint Laurent, overseeing merchandising for collections and retail. In 2019, he led the merchandising team in China for Celine. Diep has now been promoted to the position of director of merchandising and marketing at Bottega Veneta. The brand emphasizes that under Diep’s leadership, Bottega Veneta will further align its product and brand strategies while supporting regions in implementing global and local initiatives.

Ellen Kim, the current managing director of the Japan-Guam and South Korea region, will also take on expanded responsibilities. She will now be responsible for overseeing the entire Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, including Southeast Asia. Kim initially joined Bottega Veneta in 2016 after working in various roles at Chanel in Korea for 10 years. She quickly climbed the ranks, initially overseeing only the South Korea market. With her previous experience at Louis Vuitton and Loewe in her home country of Korea, Kim brings valuable expertise to her expanded role within Bottega Veneta.

In terms of financial performance, Bottega Veneta recorded a revenue of 1.74 billion euros in 2022, indicating a 16% growth (11% on a comparable basis) despite weak sales in North America and China. The brand’s revenue remained stable at 395 million euros in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2022.

The reorganization and promotions demonstrate Bottega Veneta’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Greater China. With the appointment of Dario Gargiulo as the new managing director for Greater China, the brand aims to improve its brand image and enhance the customer experience in this important market. Additionally, Samuel Diep’s promotion to director of merchandising and marketing, along with Ellen Kim’s expanded responsibilities, further support the brand’s strategic goals in the region. As Bottega Veneta continues to navigate the global luxury market, these changes in its top management reflect its dedication to driving growth and success in the Asia-Pacific region.
