Bottega Veneta Launches ‘The Square São Paulo’

Bottega Veneta has recently launched a one-of-a-kind artistic program called ‘The Square São Paulo’ at Casa de Vidro (Glass House) in São Paulo, Brazil. This initiative is part of Bottega Veneta’s broader cultural exchange series known as ‘The Square’, which aims to unite artists, guests, and the public through immersive events that stimulate dialogue and curiosity, while also promoting the brand’s values. The program, which is creatively directed by Matthieu Blazy, not only celebrates Brazilian culture but also pays tribute to the renowned Italian architect, Lina Bo Bardi.

Lina Bo Bardi is a highly influential figure in Brazilian modernism, and Casa de Vidro served as her first project and personal residence until her passing in 1992. Since its completion in 1951, Casa de Vidro has been a space that brings together artists, architects, and intellectuals. In honor of Bottega Veneta’s 10-year anniversary in Brazil, ‘The Square São Paulo’ will feature an exciting 11-day program showcasing artists and artworks from various corners of Brazil, exploring Bo Bardi’s connection with Brazilian culture and celebrating Brazilian creativity in all its diverse forms.

Matthieu Blazy, the creative director of the program, expressed his deep admiration for Casa de Vidro, describing it as one of his favorite places. He believes that gathering artists from different generations, disciplines, and regions of Brazil at this iconic location to celebrate Lina Bo Bardi’s legacy and the richness of Brazilian culture is truly inspiring. Blazy also emphasized that Bottega Veneta, known for its timeless style, finds resonance in Lina’s ideas and aesthetics, showcasing the transformative power of design and culture that continue to shape our world today.

The program at ‘The Square São Paulo’ revolves around four key themes: time, geometry and spirituality, Brazilian counterculture, and the roots of Bossa Nova. These curated pathways aim to explore Lina Bo Bardi’s revolutionary thinking, from her embracing of Brazilian popular culture to her collaborations with the counterculture movement. The event seeks to challenge norms and explore ideas that span the past, present, and potential futures through a dialogue between Lina’s objects and the works of modern and contemporary artists.

Following its official opening on Wednesday, ‘The Square São Paulo’ will be open to the public from May 27 to June 3. This event offers a truly unique opportunity to engage with Brazilian culture and appreciate the lasting legacy of Lina Bo Bardi within the context of Bottega Veneta’s artistic program. Visitors are invited to join conversations about design, culture, and the profound influence of artistic expression.
