Bold and Provocative: Fendi and Marco Rambaldi’s Collections at Milan Fashion Week

Fendi and Marco Rambaldi made a bold statement at Milan Fashion Week by presenting provocative and daring collections for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2022-23 season. Both brands showcased designs that embraced sensuality and pushed the boundaries of traditional fashion.

Fendi’s runway was filled with models strutting in glamorous cashmere gloves and cozy fur jackets, matched with vibrant furry handbags. While the outerwear exuded luxury, the outfits had a boudoir-like feel, with delicate shades of powdered pink and sage green. Sheer chiffon fabrics dominated the collection, featuring prints that were inspired by Fendi’s 1986 Spring/Summer collection. Creative director Kim Jones cleverly merged these prints with references to Karl Lagerfeld’s Fall/Winter 2000 collection, resulting in a wardrobe that was both light and ethereal, as well as structured and cinched.

Short hemlines were a prominent feature in the Fendi collection, with mini strapless dresses, corset tops, shorts, pants, and cropped jackets. Chiffon tops were often layered with leather and denim pieces, and the ensembles were accentuated with asymmetrical sarong-like belts that drew attention to the thighs. For eveningwear, Fendi showcased sheer black jumpsuits under fur coats, embracing a compelling and fearless aesthetic.

Marco Rambaldi took a bold and provocative approach with their collection, celebrating sensuality in all its forms. Models of different body types confidently showcased ultra-tight and openwork knitwear, transparent tulle jumpsuits, and skirts that revealed just enough to captivate the audience. Rambaldi drew inspiration from Italian porn stars of the 80s and 90s, such as Cicciolina and Moana Pozzi, who revolutionized societal norms and redefined the role of women. The collection featured high socks, knit stockings, and vibrant sherbet-colored outfits with playful heart embellishments scattered throughout. The traditional boundaries between genders were blurred, as slip dresses were worn by both male and female models. Rambaldi’s signature crochet technique adorned cardigans, miniskirts, and even a flirtatious heart-shaped thong.

Milan Fashion Week started off with a bang as Fendi and Marco Rambaldi brought their bold and provocative collections to the runway. The designers showcased their ability to challenge traditional fashion norms and redefine femininity, sensuality, and the role of clothing. This glimpse into the Fall/Winter 2022-23 season promises a winter that is hotter and more exciting than ever.
