Base Children’s Wear Retailer Expands to Birmingham’s Grand Central

Children’s wear retailer Base is thrilled to announce the debut of its first store outside of the South East in Birmingham’s Grand Central this coming October. This exciting development will bring the total number of Base physical stores in the UK to seven.

Base is renowned for its exquisite designer clothing for boys and girls aged 0-16, featuring a curated selection of top international fashion labels including True Religion, Lacoste, Versace, Moncler, Fendi, and an exclusive Ellesse x Base collaboration. The upcoming store at Grand Central will occupy a sprawling 3,500 sq ft space strategically located next to Fat Face.

Iain Mitchell, the UK commercial director at Hammerson, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for welcoming Base to Grand Central. He lauded Base as a premier player in the luxury children’s wear market and expressed confidence in the brand’s ability to enhance the diverse retail offerings at the destination.

Base’s Managing Director, Marc Granditer, shared his excitement about the regional expansion. He underscored the careful selection of Birmingham as the optimal location for Base’s growth, citing its status as the UK’s second-largest city with a discerning clientele and significant foot traffic stemming from Birmingham New Street station. Grand Central emerged as the natural choice for Base to mark its presence outside the South East.

With an established retail presence at Bullring & Grand Central housing prestigious brands such as John Lewis & Partners, Arket, and Morphe, Base is poised to join the esteemed ranks of top retailers in the area. Apart from the upcoming debut at Grand Central, Base’s footprint includes stores at premium locations like Bluewater, Lakeside, Westfield London, Westfield Stratford City, Eastgate in Basildon, and The Liberty in Romford.

The expansion of Base to Grand Central signifies an exciting new phase in the journey of this luxury children’s wear retailer, fostering its growth across the UK. With an unwavering commitment to designer labels and high-quality fashion, Base is certain to captivate a broader audience with its cutting-edge and chic offerings.
