Barbara Werschine Discusses Eric Bompard’s Commitment to Slow Fashion and International Expansion

Barbara Werschine, the general manager of luxury cashmere brand Eric Bompard, highlights the brand’s loyal customer base, unique alterations and remodeling service, and commitment to slow fashion in a recent episode of the LuxurynsightXFashionNetwork podcast.

One of the standout features of Eric Bompard is their exceptional repair service, which can revive sweaters with unraveled sleeves or snags. Additionally, the brand offers an upcycling program that allows customers to exchange their old products for vouchers, catering to those who are tired of their knitwear.

Werschine, with her impressive background in fashion powerhouses like Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Hermès, as well as consulting firm McKinsey, discusses the delicate balance between preserving French savoir-faire and the brand’s international development.

Eric Bompard prides itself on championing slow fashion and uses fully traceable raw materials, including cashmere fibers combed from goats’ necks. This commitment has earned the brand the “made in green” certification from Oeko Tex, making it the first French company to receive such recognition. The brand’s dedication to ethical and sustainable practices aligns with the principles of slow fashion.

Werschine emphasizes the importance of offering customers useful, sustainable products in reasonable quantities, as the brand is considered a reference for cashmere and knitwear. Eric Bompard actively works on its sourcing and corporate social responsibility efforts. The brand even joined France’s energy sobriety plan by turning off the lights in its windows at closing time.

While currently having 65 stores across Europe, primarily in France, Werschine has ambitious plans for international expansion, particularly in London. She believes that having physical stores in addition to department store distribution is essential for brand awareness. With a turnover of approximately one hundred million euros, Eric Bompard aims to develop in regions where it is not yet present, such as Scandinavia.

Barbara Werschine’s expertise and passion for the brand shine through as she leads the international growth of Eric Bompard while preserving French savoir-faire. With its commitment to slow fashion and exceptional quality, Eric Bompard is poised to continue its success in the luxury cashmere market.
