Balmain Opens Paris Fashion Week Men’s with Spectacular Event

Balmain is preparing to make a statement as it opens Paris Fashion Week Men’s with a spectacular event. The renowned luxury fashion house, now owned by the Qatari investment fund Mayhoola, is gearing up to showcase its latest Spring/Summer 2020 menswear collection in a unique way. On June 21, coinciding with Paris’ celebration of Fête de la Musique, Balmain will host a one-of-a-kind runway show and concert featuring the talented French DJ Gesaffelstein.

The chosen venue for this extraordinary event will be the stunning Jardin des Plantes, where Balmain will create a temporary space accessible to the general public. This choice reflects the innovative vision of creative director Olivier Rousteing, who aims to “democratize and modernize fashion,” as highlighted in the brand’s official statement. Embracing this inclusive philosophy, Balmain will be offering 1,500 complimentary tickets for the show on its website, available from midday on June 7.

All proceeds from the event, including contributions from attendees and sales of exclusive merchandise, food, and beverages, will be donated to (RED), a global organization championed by Bono from U2 that works to combat AIDS around the world. The event’s musical ambiance will be curated by the techno sensation Mike Lévy, who is more commonly known as Gesaffelstein. A longtime collaborator with Olivier Rousteing, Gesaffelstein has previously worked with the designer on outfit designs for major artists such as Beyoncé and Rihanna. In fact, Balmain even designed a custom ensemble for Gesaffelstein for his performance at this year’s Coachella music festival.

In addition to the runway show and concert, a series of live performances will be orchestrated by Olivier Rousteing to transform the event into what he calls a “Balmain Festival.” Other esteemed partners for the occasion include Puma, Cyril Lignac, La Perle, Bagnard, Stohrer, Alter Food, Hxouse, and Urban Act. With its groundbreaking and philanthropic initiatives, Balmain is poised to deliver an unforgettable and impactful experience at the intersection of fashion and music.
