Balmain Appoints Lily Liu as President of Greater China

Parisian luxury house Balmain has announced the appointment of Lily Liu as the new president of Greater China, in a strategic move aimed at accelerating the brand’s business in the Chinese market. Balmain considers China as its second largest market after the United States. Liu, widely recognized as an expert in the Chinese luxury sector, previously held the position of vice president for China at Versace. Drawing from her extensive 25 years of industry experience, she has served in leadership roles at renowned fashion houses such as Christian Dior Couture, Bottega Veneta, and Lanvin.

Liu is set to assume her new role at Balmain on November 12, slotting into a position that has been tailored specifically for her abilities. Jean-Jacques Guével, the CEO of Balmain, expressed utmost confidence in Liu’s aptitude for guiding the house and its expanding team within the region. Guével also underlined Balmain’s robust growth within the Chinese market, particularly in Shenzen, and the forthcoming opening of new stores in Chengdu, Chongqing, and Hainan Island.

Balmain, which was acquired by investment fund Mayhoola in 2016, is presently under the creative direction of Olivier Rousteing, who recently celebrated his remarkable ten-year anniversary with the brand.
