Balenciaga’s Decline and Gucci’s Dominance on Lyst

During the months of July to September 2022, Balenciaga experienced a decline in popularity on the Lyst platform. This comes as a surprise, considering the brand’s strong presence in the earlier months of the year. Previously ranked first in the Lyst ranking, Balenciaga dropped to fourth place in the third quarter.

Despite notable events such as its spring-summer 2023 fashion show, the presentation of its 51st couture collection, and a collaboration with Yeezy GAP in the gaming industry, Balenciaga was unable to maintain its position at the top. Meanwhile, Gucci has solidified its place as the leading brand on Lyst. Holding the top spot for the past six months, Gucci has impressed audiences with its fashion show featuring only twins. Additionally, Gucci, as the flagship brand of Kering, has utilized this period to showcase various Web3 and technological projects, such as ApeCoin payments, a mini-game with Adidas, and NFT initiatives. These endeavors have undoubtedly boosted the brand’s popularity under the artistic direction of Alessandro Michele.

In addition to Gucci and Balenciaga, Prada has made significant progress, climbing one spot on the Lyst ranking with a remarkable 44% increase in searches. This surge can be attributed to popular products like logo tank tops, nylon accessories, and sunglasses. Valentino also follows suit, with its highly publicized Pink PP campaign on social media, while Miu Miu secures the fifth position.

The Lyst platform also highlights the rise of other brands, including Fendi, Versace, and Bottega Veneta. Versace saw a staggering 2,000% increase in searches when Paris Hilton closed the SS23 fashion show in Milan. Meanwhile, Bottega Veneta has climbed an impressive six ranks. Moreover, Coperni garnered significant attention with its fashion show, featuring a dress that was directly created on Bella Hadid. This moment became a true fashion sensation.

On the other hand, Louis Vuitton and Burberry faced setbacks in the ranking, losing four and nine places respectively.

Finally, in terms of popular products, the Miu Miu ballerina flats, Gucci’s 1953 loafers, and Valentino Garavani’s studded mini bag were among the most sought-after items in the third quarter.
