After a hiatus of 53 years, the luxury house is making a grand return to Haute Couture under the artistic direction of Demna Gvasalia, following in the footsteps of founder Cristóbal Balenciaga.
As the brand prepares to showcase its 51st Couture collection on July 6th as part of Paris Fashion Week, it is also set to open a prestigious boutique exclusively dedicated to these exquisite pieces. The retail space has been tastefully renovated on the ground floor of Balenciaga’s flagship store, which is located at the iconic address of 10 Avenue George V in Paris’ 8th arrondissement. This location holds immense significance as it was the initial address of the house when it was established back in 1937.
By launching this boutique, Balenciaga aims to establish a gateway to the world of couture, which is often perceived as closed-off, especially for the younger generations. Cédric Charbit, CEO of Balenciaga, explained in an interview with WWD that the brand intends to break down barriers and create accessibility through this retail initiative. The 250-square-foot boutique will feature exclusive creations of clothing, accessories, and exceptional objects, showcasing the brand’s mastery of craftsmanship and high technology. Moreover, these limited-edition pieces can be further personalized in the Couture workshops located on the upper floors of the building.
The Balenciaga team emphasized that this Couture Store is more than just a fitting room.
