Avant-Garde Fashion Brands at Paris Fashion Week

Four fashion brands showcased their avant-garde interpretations at Paris Fashion Week, each bringing a unique and innovative take on the industry. Rokh, a South Korean brand, displayed its expertise in tailoring and layering, while Abra, a Spanish brand, drew inspiration from the archives of Custo Barcelona. Situationist, a Georgian brand, collaborated with Ukrainian brand Yaspis, and Mossi, a French brand, focused on environmentally friendly garments.

Rokh, the recipient of the 2018 LVMH Prize special prize, unveiled its “Office Essentials” collection, which paid tribute to working women in the city. Models portrayed busy office workers, showcasing tasks such as making calls and organizing papers. The collection featured exceptional layering and contrasting structures and textures, resulting in intriguing proportions and versatile looks. Accessories inspired by the office aesthetic and the 90s completed the collection.

Spanish brand Abra, founded in 2019, presented its collection in a former electric power station in Paris. Designer Abraham Ortuño collaborated with Custo Barcelona to create a series of form-fitting looks inspired by illustrations from Custo Barcelona’s archives. The collection celebrated the 2000s and marked a significant turning point in Ortuño’s fashion perspective. The collaboration between Abra and Custo Barcelona will launch a capsule collection in the upcoming winter season.

French brand Mossi, established in 2011, showcased its collection titled “Aller danser sur la Lune” (“Go Dancing on the Moon”). The collection paid homage to hip-hop dance and featured casual streetwear with a cosmonaut-like twist. Mossi employed environmentally responsible approaches by incorporating deadstock fabrics and handmade cotton. The show was paired with an energetic urban dance battle.

Situationist, a Georgian brand, joined forces with Ukrainian brand Yaspis to reimagine tailored pieces and wardrobe essentials using leather, knitwear, and bamboo mesh. The collection showcased strapless jumpsuits, structured fur coats, tight-fitting dresses, and oversized fur coats.

These four brands demonstrated their unique interpretations of avant-garde fashion at Paris Fashion Week, defying conventional norms and bringing fresh perspectives to the industry. Their innovative designs and collaborative efforts pushed the boundaries of fashion, leaving a lasting impact on the runway.
