Aston Martin Partners with Britishvolt for Electric Vehicle Launch in 2025

Aston Martin, the renowned luxury car manufacturer, is forging a collaboration with Britishvolt, a specialist in sustainable battery design, in preparation for the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV) in 2025. This strategic move reflects the larger global trend within the automotive industry towards electrification. Bentley has been making significant investments to electrify its range, while BMW intends to expand its charging network. These initiatives mirror the industry’s collective aim to prioritize electric-first or electric-only vehicles, following the lead of established brands like Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini.

Aston Martin is fully committed to embracing this transformative shift. By partnering with Britishvolt, the company seeks to develop cutting-edge cell and battery technologies specifically designed to cater to the unique requirements of Aston Martin’s upscale and high-performance vehicles. Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda, highlighted the significance of this collaboration as he said, “In addition to our strategic relationship with our shareholder, Mercedes-Benz AG, this partnership provides Aston Martin with additional access to technology and expertise to expand our electrification options.”

This partnership forms an integral part of Aston Martin’s broader sustainability strategy, which gained momentum last year with the recruitment of 176 engineers, many of whom specialize in electric vehicle technology. By making strategic hires, investments, and cultivating valuable partnerships, Aston Martin aims to introduce its first hybrid model, the Valhalla, by 2024. The company’s electrification ambitions extend to its entire vehicle lineup, with plans to offer an electrified powertrain option across all new product ranges by 2026. Ultimately, Aston Martin envisions an all-electric vehicle portfolio by the end of the decade.
