Armani, the renowned Italian fashion brand, has made its entrance into Essex by opening its first outlet store at Landsec’s Braintree Village. Situated beside Polo Ralph Lauren, the store spans 1,889 sq ft and offers regular discounts of up to 35% off the recommended retail price. This addition enhances the already existing presence of premium and luxury international labels like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Timberland at the shopping center.
Despite the challenges brought about by the ongoing pandemic, Braintree Village witnessed 11 store openings in 2020. However, Armani’s outlet debut marks the first opening of 2021. Numerous stores across the country had been delayed in their Q1 launch due to the lockdown restrictions in the UK, which are only now being lifted.
Over the past few years, outlet centers in the UK have been performing admirably, even amidst the substantial shift towards online shopping. These centers have experienced robust footfall figures, rebounding after the initial easing of the lockdown. Conversely, other types of retail destinations have struggled to generate profitable footfall.
Bruce Findlay, Landsec’s Managing Director of Retail, emphasized the significance of having designer brands as part of their outlet portfolio. He believes that such brands provide an extra incentive for customers to visit their centers. By welcoming Armani to Braintree Village, a globally respected name is added to the already impressive array of internationally recognized and independent brands, thereby augmenting the luxury offering in their retail lineup.
The introduction of Armani’s outlet store at Braintree Village further solidifies the standing of the shopping center as a top-tier destination for fashion enthusiasts. Shoppers now have the opportunity to explore a wide range of high-end brands at discounted prices. With the gradual relaxation of lockdown restrictions, it is anticipated that footfall will increase, and customers will eagerly flock to the new Armani outlet in Essex.
