Andam Prize 2022: Increased Prize Money and New Honors for Emerging Designers

The Andam prize, which is considered France’s top support event for emerging designers, has unveiled its plans for the 33rd edition of the competition, offering an impressive prize money of €600,000. Organized by the French association for the development of arts and fashion (Andam), this year’s competition will distribute a total of five awards, solidifying its position as a crucial platform for up-and-coming designers.

To underscore its dedication to nurturing talent, the prize money has been increased by €100,000 from the previous year, reaching a record-breaking €600,000. In comparison, the prize money was €500,000 in 2021 and €450,000 before that. Alongside the existing four prizes, a new honor, the “grand special prize,” with a value of €100,000, has been introduced.

The four established awards include the Andam grand prize, valued at €300,000, the Pierre Bergé prize, taking over the creative label prize and worth €100,000, the fashion accessories prize with a value of €50,000, and the innovation prize, which made its debut in 2017 and offers €50,000. In addition to the substantial cash prizes, the winners will also receive invaluable mentorship programs provided by the sponsors.

In a move to further support and guide the winning designers, Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, has been appointed as the patron for the 2022 edition. He will act as a mentor for the recipients of the first two prizes. Meanwhile, Stefano Martinetto, founder and CEO of Tomorrow, will mentor the recipient of the Pierre Bergé prize, and Frédéric Maus, managing director of WSN, will support the winner of the fashion accessories prize. The winner of the innovation prize will receive mentorship from Yann Gozlan, founder and president of the start-up and business incubator network Creative Valley, in addition to other industry specialists participating in a comprehensive mentoring program lasting one year.

Applications for the Andam prize 2022 are now open and can be submitted until March 31 via the official website at andam.fr. The composition of the jury panel for the competition will be announced in February 2022, and the finalists will be selected by the end of May. The award ceremony for the 2022 winners is scheduled to take place on June 30, 2022. Last year, British designer Bianca Saunders received the Andam Prize, alongside EgonLab, the winner of the Pierre Bergé prize, Aswad, the winner of the fashion accessories prize, and Spinnova, a Finnish textile start-up that claimed the innovation prize.
