ANDAM 2020 Edition: Postponed and Reshaped to Support Fashion Industry

The National Association for the Development of Fashion Arts (ANDAM) is facing an unprecedented situation as it announces the postponement of its 2020 edition to next year. Launched in 1989, ANDAM is a competition that aims to showcase young fashion professionals. However, in light of the current challenges faced by the creative industry, ANDAM has decided to implement a special edition for this year.

The organization emphasizes that this year’s edition is not just a competition, but a way to salute, encourage, and support creative and innovative know-how that contributes to the transformation of the fashion industry. In this uncertain environment, fashion brands need more financial support than ever to ensure the continuity of their structures. ANDAM recognizes this responsibility and strengthens its support for creation by reshaping its 2020 edition.

ANDAM will grant two special endowments among its previous finalists and winners. A €200,000 grant will support an established structure with a global turnover of over €10 million, while a €150,000 grant will help a company with a turnover between €1 and €10 million. The objective of these endowments is to allow independent brands to maintain their presence at the next fashion week or implement new initiatives to consolidate their structures. The Pierre Bergé Prize, known for its avant-garde aspect, will also be maintained for the 2020 edition, as well as the Innovation Prize, which rewards entrepreneurs and start-ups contributing to industry reinvention.

The application deadline for ANDAM has been extended to June 8th, and the winners will be selected on July 2nd. This special edition is a direct response to the challenges faced by the industry, and the organization plans to return to its “classic” format next year.

In addition to the financial support, ANDAM ensures that the winners will receive comprehensive support in various fields of expertise to help them sustain their structures.

Overall, ANDAM’s reshaped 2020 edition aims to support the fashion industry players impacted by the Covid-19 epidemic. While the Grand Prizes and Accessories Prizes are postponed, two Prizes will still be awarded this year among the former finalists. The Pierre Bergé Prize and the Innovation Prize will also continue as planned. Start-ups with innovative projects in France can apply for the Innovation Prize, focusing on biomaterials, “health-garments,” carbon footprint optimization, manufacturing processes, and/or traceability.
