Alexa Chung, the well-known British TV presenter and model, is preparing to enter the fashion industry with her own fashion brand in May 2017. Her unique sense of style has always made her stand out, and now she is ready to make her mark with her own label. Despite collaborating with several ready-to-wear brands such as Superga and Marks & Spencer in the past, Chung has decided to take the plunge and start her own business.
At 32 years old, Chung believes that now is the perfect time for her to pursue this creative project. She feels that her prior experiences have provided her with the necessary knowledge and expertise to successfully launch her own brand. “I feel ready now. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have felt responsible enough to start my own label,” she said.
While working with different fashion houses offered Chung pleasant experiences, she craved more freedom and independence. Starting her own brand allows her to escape the limitations and constraints imposed by working for someone else. “I didn’t want to work under someone else’s name,” Chung explained.
The Alexachung brand will primarily focus on women’s ready-to-wear clothing. The first collection will feature denim, day and evening wear, shoes, jewelry, and other “everyday luxury products.” Chung will serve as the head of the creative team, overseeing a team of six individuals. Edwin Bodson, previously associated with Haider Ackermann, will assume the role of Managing Director.
The Alexachung collection is set to launch in May 2017 and will be available for purchase in physical boutiques as well as on popular e-commerce platforms such as Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette, Matchesfashion.com, mytheresa.com, and SSENSE.
