Alessandro Vigilante Named Creative Director of Rochas’ Ready-to-Wear Line

Alessandro Vigilante has been announced as the new creative director of Rochas’ ready-to-wear line, succeeding Charles De Vilmorin in this esteemed role. The fashion industry is no stranger to surprises, and this appointment comes as a significant move for the iconic fashion and fragrance brand.

Vigilante’s expertise in the industry has been honed through his education at the IED Moda Lab in Milan and his work with renowned fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, and The Attico. Throughout his career, Vigilante has dressed international celebrities and garnered invaluable experience from each brand. In 2020, he ventured into launching his own collections, adding another layer of creativity and individuality to his portfolio.

Taking on the role of creative director, Vigilante follows in the footsteps of respected designers such as Olivier Theyskens, Marco Zanini, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, and Charles De Vilmorin. Since May of last year, Vigilante has quietly been working in Rochas’ studios, contributing to the Spring-Summer 2024 collection. Fans and fashion enthusiasts can expect his official debut line for Rochas to be showcased at the February Fashion Week in Paris for the Fall-Winter 2024-2025 season, with a presentation. Then, in September 2024, his collection will grace the runways, allowing his creative vision to come to life.

Rochas, founded in 1925 by French designer Marcel Rochas, was acquired by Interparfums in 2015. Interparfums is a prominent group that holds fragrance licenses for several prestigious brands including Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Moncler, Boucheron, and Lanvin. Philippe Bénacin, the CEO of Interparfums, expressed his excitement in welcoming Alessandro Vigilante as the creative director of ready-to-wear. Bénacin praised Vigilante’s ability to portray elegance, modern femininity, and his constant search for women’s bodily expression. With Vigilante’s fresh perspective, Rochas is about to embark on a new chapter, adding to the brand’s legacy of fearlessness, femininity, and sophistication.

The fashion industry has recently witnessed several noteworthy movements. Matthew Williams recently announced his departure as creative director at Givenchy, Matteo Tamburini has been appointed as the head of creation at Tod’s, and Nicolas Ghesquière has renewed his contract as the artistic director of women’s collections at Louis Vuitton. These shifts in leadership are indicative of the ever-changing nature of fashion, sparking curiosity about the future of the industry.
