Afterpay Announces Partnership with IMG to Enhance NYFW Experience

Afterpay, the payment technology company, has recently announced an exciting development in its partnership with IMG to enhance the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) experience for consumers. As part of this collaboration, Afterpay will be launching designer non-fungible tokens (NFTs), known as “Keys.” These digital collectibles will grant users exclusive access to experiences and products typically reserved for a privileged few. Moreover, owning these Keys will also entitle individuals to artwork created by renowned fashion designers.

Five notable designers, including Altu by Joseph Altuzarra, AnOnlyChild, Jonathan Simkhai, Kim Shui, and The Blonds, have teamed up with Afterpay to offer limited-edition NFTs that consumers can mint. Each designer has drawn inspiration from their Spring/Summer ’23 collections to create unique NFTs, alongside a selection of limited edition products or exclusive NYFW experiences.

For instance, Altu by Joseph Altuzarra’s NFT will allow Key owners to unlock either a limited-edition leather tote and T-shirt or a membership to one of New York City’s renowned art museums. Similarly, Kim Shui’s Key offers the option of a custom-designed hoodie featuring Shui’s signature dragon motif or tickets to her runway show on September 12. AnOnlyChild’s Key provides a limited-edition belt bag or an invitation to the designer’s NYFW after party. Jonathan Simkhai’s Key offers consumers the opportunity to unlock a private meet-and-greet shopping experience with the designer or signed original runway sketches from his new collection. Lastly, The Blonds offer an exclusive invite to their NYFW after party or a signed copy of their forthcoming book, “The Blonds: Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy.”

In addition to the designer NFT Keys, Afterpay will also release its first free NFT in limited quantities. Possessing this free NFT will grant users access to utilities such as a Tidal HiFi Plus 6 Month Free Trial, entry into a close-friends Instagram group dedicated to NYFW, and an invitation to RSVP to NYFW: The Talks sessions.

To make these highly sought-after designer NFT Keys accessible to a wider audience, Afterpay has set the retail price at $100. What is more, for the first time, Afterpay is allowing consumers to divide the payment into four interest-free installments. As an added bonus, all proceeds from the sale of the designer NFT Keys will be donated to Free Arts NYC, a nonprofit organization that offers arts education and mentoring to underserved youth.

Through its partnership with IMG, Afterpay aims to bridge the gap between fashion enthusiasts and the exclusive world of NYFW. By introducing designer NFTs, Afterpay is revolutionizing the way consumers engage with fashion and granting them unique opportunities to own a treasured piece of fashion history.
