Aeffe Wraps Up 2019 with Positive Growth Despite Challenges

As 2019 comes to a close, Aeffe, the renowned Italian fashion group famous for brands like Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy, Moschino, and Pollini, is wrapping up the year on a positive note. Despite a more modest increase in consolidated revenue compared to the previous year, Aeffe saw a 1.4% uptick, reaching a total of 352.4 million euros.

The growth in revenue was primarily fueled by strong sales in Asia and Europe (excluding Italy), highlighting the company’s international appeal. Moschino, a standout brand in Aeffe’s portfolio, played a significant role in the company’s success, contributing 75% of total sales and surpassing 262.5 million euros in revenue. However, other brands within the group, such as Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy, and Pollini, faced varying degrees of sales declines, as did licensed brands.

While Aeffe experienced growth in most regions, North America and Italy saw declines of 4.5% and 7.2% in sales, respectively. Italy, in particular, remains crucial to Aeffe’s revenue stream despite facing challenges in the wholesale network.

Amidst these market fluctuations, Aeffe noted a noteworthy increase in retail sales, marking a 7.5% growth across its 65 stores. Additionally, the company reported a substantial 17.7% rise in royalty revenues from licensing, amounting to 13.7 million euros in 2019.

Looking ahead, Aeffe is optimistic about its growth prospects and aims to reinforce its international presence and retail operations. Despite the somewhat tempered performance in 2019 compared to previous years, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to future expansion and success within the competitive fashion industry.
